Special Love is a local nonprofit organization that provides cancer families with a network of financial and community support. Made up of patients and families who know and understand the trials and triumphs of the cancer experience, it is the result of Tom and Sheila Baker's desire to establish a support group for children with cancer and to honor their daughter who lost her battle against the deadly disease. In 1983, the Bakers began Special Love with a week of summer fun called Camp Fantastic. This has grown into a year full of events, with over 15 week and weekend retreats and special outings. The organization also provides emergency financial relief and post-secondary scholarships for teens who have participated in Special Love programs. These activities combine to provide a community of support to children with cancer and their families.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. The Society's mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Since its founding in 1949, LLS has invested more than $1 billion in research. Over that time, survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled and even quadrupled. Moreover, LLS have learned how to cure certain blood cancers. And many therapies first approved for blood cancers are now helping patients with other types of cancers and serious diseases.
